Country Head, Kiribati

About the role

The Country Head for Kiribati will lead ANZ’s operations on the island, reporting to the Pacific Leadership Team. This senior position combines strategic oversight, governance, and relationship management to ensure the bank delivers sustainable growth and upholds its reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Set and execute country strategy in line with ANZ and Pacific objectives, ensuring compliance with risk appetite.
• Drive revenue growth and identify cost‑saving opportunities across the market.
• Maintain strong governance, control environment and capital return targets.
• Represent ANZ to regulators, government bodies, NGOs, business associations and community stakeholders.
• Communicate ANZ’s policies, performance and strategic updates locally while feeding market insights back to regional leadership.
• Foster a culture of speaking up, collaboration and high ethical standards.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in banking or financial services, preferably in a Pacific or emerging market.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue and managing risk in a regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with government, regulators and community organisations.
• Ability to work across matrixed teams and influence regional functional heads.
• Demonstrated commitment to ANZ’s values and reputation.
